1.Where do you get your style inspirtaion from?

In my early days of working / buying in retail it was from the girl on the street or fashion shows and buying appointments where I got to meet so many stylish ladies and brands.

I was lucky to travel Europe with work and found inspiration from people watching.

Since then with a social media influence I also find inspiration there, with influencers like Lydia Jane Tomlinson , love her paired back effortless style with a hint of trend. Comfort is key.

2. What’s your Go to style piece in your collection?

I have to pick two!

A Blazer or Jumpsuit. I feel great in both.

A Blazer elevates your simple outfit and makes you feel stylish. Love wearing them with Jeans and a T-shirt, or to elevate a simple dress . Jumpsuits are my weakness, I love how cool, and effortless they are. Your also dressed easily, not much else needed.

3.What inspired you to get into fashion ?

I always knew it was where I felt most at ease. I took a year out from studying and got a position of sales in a store in St Stephen’s Green Dublin, and instantly fell in love with it and was something that came naturally to me. I noticed the work load was difficult for some as it wasnt as glam as one might imagine but I was the opposite I thrived on it.

Things moved very quickly and I was promoted to Manager and then Area Manager for the company. I also dived into Merchandising which is something I still enjoy. Pulling a store apart and putting it back together gives me great enjoyment.

Aesthetics are very important for any store.

4.Piece of advice for budding young entrepreneurs.

Know what your good at. Follow your gut.

Find something your truly passionate about because there are times in any career where it gets tough but passion gets you through it and be consistent. You have to put in the work there are no shortcuts to succeeding. Growth takes place when you are challenged not when you are comfortable.

“Passion gives you the motivation to keep trying, even if you fail time after time.”

6. When did you come across Divine?

I’ve been in the retail world for 24 years and since opening my own boutique in 2011 I’ve heard of Divine and always loved what Mary has bought for Divine. Great brands are hard to come by, you have to work with them know your audience and market them in a certain way, which Divine do seamlessly.

I feel we have similar style! Mary is someone who truly has passion and certainly is in the right career. Love her “ Try Ons” on social media, her styling always catches my eye.

I wish Divine many more years of success, independant boutiques like Divine offer the customer so much more than the clothes on the rail. Experienced style advice is hard to get these days.

Thanks Kate for chatting with us and we too wish you many more years of success in the business. x
